My novel, The Water of Life (Uisge beatha) originally published in French as L’eau de vie (Uisge beatha) has been translated into English by Mārta Ziemelis and published by Odyssey Books of Australia.
The story of this turbulent family saga spans several generations, three lineages, and two continents. Transported to the hard coastal life of Georgian Bay, Canada, along the northeastern shore of Lake Huron, the reader becomes quickly embroiled in the captivating centuries-old history of Scotch whisky. Uisge beatha, Scottish Gaelic for ‘whisky’, ‘the water of life’ is itself a character in the story: a restless ghost coursing through the veins of anyone who drinks it, forging life itself.
